Thomas Douglas Greene

Doug Greene, age 60, passed away at his home in Sylvan Springs of heart disease. He was born on December 8, 1960 to Robert M. Greene, Jr. and Marty Greene. He was raised in Hueytown and graduated from Hueytown High School in 1979. Doug loved serving the Lord and helping with the Food Ministry at Open Door Church, where he was a member for almost 20 years. He worked for many years at Habitat for Humanity and for another special friend, Jim Cailyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marty; a brother, Robert "Robby" Greene; and an aunt, Peggy G. Crone.

He is survived by his aunt, Nancy Clements Norwood of McCalla, AL; 2 cousins, Percy "Bill" Clements (Kathleen) of Chelsa, AL, and Sherri G. Broussard (Bruce) of Houston, TX; his very special friend with whom he worked, Rance Jordan; and his beloved church family at Open Door Church in Minor Heights.

A graveside service will be on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at 11:00 AM at Highland Memorial Gardens in Bessemer. A memorial service for Doug will be announced at a later date at Open Door Church. Pallbearers will be Rance Jordan, Michael Durham, Cody Durham, Jim Cailyn, Mark Wood and Stanley McCain. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Open Door Church Food Ministry. The family wants to extend a special thanks to Open Door Church and to Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home.
