Obituary

Thomas Sidney Jones, Jr. (Tom) entered the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 31, 2022, at the age of 82.

While we mourn his passing, we rejoice in the promise of Scripture that those who believe on Jesus Christ will have eternal life.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Linda Jones, aka "Torch", son Thomas Edward "Speedy" Jones (Theresa), daughter Janel Merritt (Floyd), grandchildren Forrest Davis, Lucy Davis Hardin (Brandon), Andrew Davis (Leann), and Connor Davis, brother Joe Jones, neices Tammy Jones McMurry (Harold) and Karen Jones White (Steve).

A life-long native of Bessemer, AL, Tom was a faithful member of First Alliance Church in Bessemer for many years where his long service of singing in the choir blessed and encouraged many people. In his later years, he was a beloved member of Southcrest Baptist Church in Bessemer.

Tom worked in the forefront of bank operations and data processing for almost 40 years - all with the same institution, Birmingham Trust National Bank, which became SouthTrust.

Fulfilling a childhood dream, Tom built a homestead farm on the outskirts of town. There, he & Linda made a wonderful life for themselves frequently hosting many friends and family that knew it as "the farm".

Just as Tom loved to invite people to enjoy time together at "the farm", I know that he would also invite you to now accept Christ as your savior, knowing ultimate peace and salvation is found only in Him.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Southcrest Baptist Church, 4317 South Shades Crest Rd., Bessemer, AL 35022.
