Ruth Perry Burleson

Ruth Perry Burleson, of Birmingham, AL, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at the age of 84. She was a member of Birmingham First Church of the Nazarene, served on the church board, taught Sunday school, and served as treasurer for more than 45 years. Ruth worked for a number of employers over the years including GMAC Finance; secretary of First Church of the Nazarene; Airway Vacuum; for investment brokerage firms Hendrix, Moore and Yardley; Porter, White, and Yardley; Morgan Keegan and then after her first retirement, at Associated Data.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Stan Burleson. She is survived by her daughter, Regina McCaleb (Mike); son, Jeff Burleson (Patti); 3 grandchildren, Kyle McCaleb (Caroline), Kevin McCaleb, and Kim Massey (Cody); her brother, Howard Perry (Sandra); and a host of nieces and nephews.

There will be a viewing on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, AL. The service will begin at 11:00am in the chapel with Rev. Huey Davis officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any contribution be made to “Stan’s Well” (wells for West Africa) with checks made out to First Church of the Nazarene, 1998 Shades Crest Road, Vestavia Hills, AL 35216.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Ruth’s faithful caregivers, Aisha Jackson and Denise Whitley, who so lovingly took care of Ruth.
