N. Pearl McClain Rancont died on November 16, 2020. She was born to John Rhuel McClain and Ruby Patterson McClain on October 28, 1933.

A graduate of Minor High School, Carraway School of Nursing and UAB School of Nursing. She spent her life in service to her savior Jesus Christ as a nurse teaching new generations of nurses at Carraway and later in Nursing Management at both Carraway and Brookwood hospitals.

She loved the Church and faithfully did what was needed of her. She was an active member of congregations at McDonald Chapel, Norwood, 11th Avenue Birmingham, Oakmont, and Trinity United Methodist churches.

After becoming a nurse, she met and married Joe Rancont. They shared the walk across this rock together until his passing.

Mrs. Rancont was preceded in death by her husband Joseph M. Rancont; her parents John R. & Ruby Patterson McClain; brothers, John R. McClain Jr., Robert “Mac” McClain; sisters Margaret Ann McClain, Doris McClain Stancil, Mary McClain Fikes, and Joyce McClain.

In her passing she leaves behind her children Dennis Rancont and his wife Nancy, Lucie Rancont Cardwell, Julie Rancont and her spouse Col. Shauna Hauser. One grandchild Dr. Stephanie M. Cardwell; sisters Jane McClain Griffith & Gail McClain Kendrick and husband Bob; along with as host of nieces, nephews and close friends.

The graveside service will begin at 10:00am at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, AL with Dr. Andy Wolfe officiating.

Rather than flowers the family suggest donations to the Back-Pack Ministry at Trinity UMC in Homewood.
