Leo P. Lowery

Leo Lowery, 95, of Alabaster, AL, was received by his Lord and Savior on May 8, 2020, surrounded by his family.  He was born in Helena, AL on November 7, 1924.

In 1942, Lowery joined the U.S. Navy as America entered WWII and served on the U.S.S. Tennessee assigned to the South Pacific to war again Japanese aggression.  After the war he returned to Helena and met Mary Louise Ray while attending Thompson’s Chapel Church.  Married in 1951, Leo and Louise settled in Alabaster in 1958. He was employed by CBI Industries where he retired after 35 years.

He belonged to “Nifty Fifties” senior’s group at Kingwood Church where he was a faithful member for 61 years.

Lowery is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Louise, whom he lovingly called “Luigi”, son Steven (Willette) of Stuart, FL, grandson Keith Lowery (Carrie) of Macon, GA, Brandy Fitzhugh (Jason) of Stuart, FL, 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.  He is preceded in death by grandson Heath Lowery.

Lowery, who stood for his God, family, friends and Nation, is beloved by those who knew him.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, there will be a private family graveside for Leo on Monday, May 11, 2020
