Jeanie Wallace

April 26, 1952 — April 1, 2020

Hoover

Jeanie P. “Mimi” Wallace.  Born on April 26, 1952 in the Atlanta, Georgia area.  Jeanie, or “Mimi” as she was known to her many beloved grandchildren, children, friends, and pets, returned to her Lord Jesus on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at the age of 67 while being tended to by her loving husband Dr. Stephen L. Wallace at their home in the Preserve Neighborhood of Hoover, Alabama.  A beacon and inspiration to all who knew her Jeanie had been successful in her fight against cancer for the last five to six years.

She was a strong believer of God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ.  She was a faithful member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Vestavia, Alabama.  She inspired and encouraged many cancer survivors and friends through her Facebook page.  This was her ministry to tell her story of survival from this dreadful disease.

A graduate of John Carroll High School and later UAB student, Jeanie had called Birmingham home for almost 60 years.  In addition to being a homemaker par excellence she had years of experience as a business manager for a dental practice and law firm.  Possessed of an unbridled creative spirit, Jeanie was a talented craftswoman who touched countless lives with her vivid imagination, warm heart, and kind words.  Her passion for Alabama Football was boundless and on weekends in the Fall she would expertly weave Crimson and Houndstooth into the latest in fashion.

Ever the nurturer Jeanie was an avid pet owner and had a particular affinity for both the Cavalier King Charles and Maltese dog breeds.  She also had a passion for sports cars and in particular the convertible variety painted black or red.

Jeanie is survived by her beloved husband Dr. Stephen L. Wallace, sons Brian Burgess and Stephen Wallace of Birmingham, daughter Emily Burgess of Manhattan, NY, daughters-in-law Lauren Burgess and Paige Wallace, granddaughters Olivia Ann and CC, and grandsons Brody, Davis, and Owen.  In addition to her loving family Jeanie leaves behind her two dogs Mitzi Rose & Hattie.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God!”
