Ila Ruth Yeager

Mrs. Ila Ruth Yeager, 92, of Bessemer, AL passed away on January 30, 2021. She graduated from Minor High School in 1946 and Massey Business School. She worked several jobs and retired from Sears Credit Central. She was an active member of Canaan Baptist Church on Morgan Road in Bessemer, AL for 62 years. She worked in the nursery for almost 60 years and sang in the Senior Adult Choir. She was a member of The Hubs and The Kitchen Band for many years. She was active in all aspects of church life. She loved other activities such as games, especially her Bunco ladies group.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James E. Yeager; son, Michael W. Yeager; parents, Jesse and Lolita Bell; sisters, Clyde Whiting and Jacquelin Mitchell; and grandson, Matthew Yeager.

She is survived by her son, R. Douglas Yeager; daughters, Marsha D. Abbett (Al), P. Elaine Moody (Fred), and Rhonda G. Acker; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; sister, Lolita Burkett; and special caregivers, Regina Killingsworth and Comfort Care Hospice.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, AL. The graveside service will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South with Dr. Barry Cosper officiating.
