George Munkus

Mr. George Ryan Munkus, 83, of Warrior passed away on February 5, 2020. George retired as Captain from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office after 29 years of service, served in the Army and Coast Guard Reserve, enjoyed drag racing, fishing, music, and playing guitar, and was an avid Alabama football fan.

He is preceded in death by his grandson, Will Munkus; and parents, Paul Preston Munkus and Sarah Myrtle Mull Munkus.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 41 years, Ramona Robinson Munkus; children, Adam Carrigan (Misty Carrigan), Rick Munkus (Camille Munkus); and Cindy Fassinger (Tony Fassinger); grandchild, Kelly Munkus; great-grandchild, Hallie Sanders; and sisters, Paulette McDaniel (Charlie McDaniel) and Cathi Massey (Larry Massey).

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, AL. The graveside service will follow at 11:00 AM at Jefferson-Memorial Gardens, South.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
