George Johnson

Mr. George Robert Johnson, 98, of Birmingham, AL passed away August 16th, 2020. Robert bravely served overseas in the United States Army during World War II and remained in the Army for over 20 years. He worked until his retirement for General Motors Corporation. He enjoyed ballroom dancing with his wife, travel, occasional fishing trips and was fiercely devoted to his family.

Robert is preceded in death by his wife Clara Gene (Molly) Johnson and his son Colonel George Robert Johnson, Jr. He is survived by his daughter Gene Goodwyn (John), daughter in law Betty Johnson, six grandchildren Jeff Johnson (Vicky), Holly Turner (Robin), John R. Goodwyn (Melissa), Erik Johnson (Ginger), Melissa Sizemore (Jeff), Leif Johnson (Rachel), his 10 great grandchildren Dana Poe (Jared), Robin Blake Turner (Chelsea), Jacob Sizemore, Jordan Sizemore, Ian Sizemore, Kyle Johnson, Bella Johnson, Sydney Johnson, Riley Johnson, Asher Goodwyn, and his four great great grandchildren Elliot Poe, Emery Turner, Adley Turner, and Coy Poe.

A private family service will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2020.
