Clifford Maxwell Butler "Mac" of Hoover, AL passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at the age of 80. Cliff was a good and faithful servant with a kind and generous soul. Cliff was a loving husband and father and proud grandfather. He had many friends and family who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Clarissa Butler, and infant sister, Joanna. Cliff is survived by his wife, Donna Baty Butler; children, Bill Butler (Jennifer), Russell Butler, Catherine Spencer (Brian), Mac Butler (Chloe); grandchildren, Julia, Sophie, Baylor, Ben, and Beau Butler; sister, Jacqueline Butler; and many cousins. Cliff was born in Montgomery, AL and graduated from Robert E Lee High School. Cliff graduated from Auburn University Class of '67 with a major in Electrical Engineering after serving as a U.S. Army combat engineer in Vietnam. He was a founding member of the Phi Gamma Delta chapter at Auburn. Cliff worked the next 45 years with Westinghouse and later ABB. Cliff was a member of IEEE, Tigers Unlimited, Lions, Jaycees, Rotary, American Legion Post 911, Hunter Street Baptist Church, several hunting clubs, and the Boy Scouts of America Troop 23. He loved the Lord, his family, his Sunday school class, Auburn Football, fishing, golfing, and hunting.
Visitation will be 9:00 am on Tuesday, June, 21, 2022, followed by his service at 10:00 am at Currie-Jefferson, 2701 John Hawkins Pkwy, Hoover, AL 35244. Pastor Brian Hinton officiating. Committal Service will follow at 12:30 at the Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, AL 35115. Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post 911, 1561 Montgomery Hwy, Hoover, AL 35216 and Hunter Street Baptist Church, Hoover, AL 35244.
