Clay Edd Morris, of Hoover, Alabama, peacefully passed away on April 23, 2020, at ninety years of age surrounded by his loving wife of seventy years, Jeraldean Morris, and daughter, Linda Morris Peveler (Clay). Clay was born in Millport, Alabama, on July 2, 1929. He graduated from Millport High School and went to work for U.S. Steel where he retired in 1984. He loved to garden and could always be found in his small engine repair shop fixing whatever anyone brought him or doing volunteer service for his beloved church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Amy Lee Ayers, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Atticus E. Morris. Clay, or Paw Paw as he was affectionally called, is survived by his two granddaughters, Kristen Peveler Dunn (Charles), and Brittany Lynn Peveler, as well as two great grandsons, Daniel Brock Peveler and Luke Hardy Dunn. A private graveside service was held on April 24, 2020 at Currie Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, Alabama, officiated by Mr. Scott Bush and Mr. Carl Benedict. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Big Oak Ranch, 250 Jake Mintz Road, Gadsden, AL 35905 or Southcrest Baptist Church, 4317 South Shades Crest Road, Bessemer, AL 35022. The family would like to recognize with deep appreciation the caregivers of Choice Home Care who loved on him through his last years, especially Valerie and Charles Likely, Katisha Cook, Frederica Patrick, and Daveda Bell. The family would also like to thank the wonderful caregivers, especially Anna LeBlanc, of Comfort Care Hospice.
