Addie Dennis

Addie Dennis went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 5, 2019. She is preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers and sisters, her husband, William Herbert Dennis, her daughter, Dorothy Sturges, and her daughter-in-law, Clara Dennis. She is survived by her sons, Gary Dennis, and Ralph Dennis (Beth), eight granddaughters, twenty great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

A native of Marbury, Alabama, she has resided in Shannon, Alabama since 1941. Upon moving to Shannon, she joined Shady Grove Baptist Church and has been an active member serving in numerous roles throughout the years such as church secretary, head of the prayer chain, WMU director, and Sunday school teacher. She was Lunchroom Manager at Shannon Elementary School and retired from the Alabama Board of Education. She played a major role in making sure no child in her community went hungry due to wars, economic crises, or other trying times. Her hobbies included working in her garden, quilting, cooking for others, keeping up with those she loved, and being the boss. She greeted everyone with a hug and a kiss, ready or not. She will be remembered most for her love of the Lord, her obedience to His Word, and how her faithfulness encouraged and uplifted everyone around her. Her faith has become sight and she is safe in the arms of her Savior.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, AL. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm on Monday, September 9, 2019 from the funeral home chapel. There will be a one-hour visitation prior to the funeral service. Interment will immediately follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens South.
