Wilma "Vonnie" Sams

Wilma "Vonnie" Sams of McCalla, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at the age of 72. She was a member of Westmont Baptist Church in Minor for a number of years. Vonnie retired from AmSouth Bank where she was a loan officer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Euel "Pop" and Mildred Wilbanks; and her uncle, Elijah Canoles.

Vonnie is survived by her husband, Michael Lennie Sams; 1 daughter, Lisa Sandlin Miller (Randy); 3 sons, Jeff Sandlin (Jennifer), Lennie Sams, Jr. (Pam) and Greg Sams (Donna); 7 grandchildren, Brandon Miller (Erika), Grant Miller, Bella Rae Sandlin, Tilson Sandlin, Justin Sams (Brandi), Jared Sams (Kristi) and Allison Brooks; 7 great grandchildren, Grady Miller, Brylee Miller, Lennie Sams, Willa Sams, Riley Sams, Casey Sams and Henry Sams; 1 sister, Nita Wilbanks Collett; 2 nieces, Lacey Collett Pullen (Travis) and Abbey Brooke Collett; and 1 great niece, Kyleigh Pullen.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 11, 2019, from 6-8 PM at Westmont Baptist Church in Minor. The service will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at 2 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover. Bro. Rick Cooper and Pastor Landon Byrd officiating. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Gardens following the service.
