Wilma Nel Miller of Helena, Alabama passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at the age of 103. She was born on December 5, 1922 in Jester, Oklahoma to the late William Cross Hogan and Bonnie Lee (Houck) Hogan and was raised in Mobeetie, Texas. She was married to Jesse Layton Miller of Echo, Alabama from June, 1946 until his death in April, 1996.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Jesse, her parents, four brothers, one sister, a son Larry(Kathy) Miller and granddaughter Robin.
She is survived by 3 brothers: Ed, Glen, and LaWayne of Pampa, Texas and sons Waylon(Penney) and Jerry, and daughter Karen. She had 7 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
She was a beautician for over 40 years in Prattville, Alabama. She loved working in her yard and could do more than many half her age. She also enjoyed crocheting and quilt making. She was a great cook and enjoyed making meals for her family. We would like to thank the staff at Regency Retirement Village for the great care they provided. We would also like to thank the staff at The Oaks on Parkwood for the care provided the last two months of her life.
A graveside service will be for the family on May 28, 2026 and burial will follow at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama.
Though we grieve her absence we take comfort that she is out of pain and that there is the promise of eternal life in Heaven and a joyful reunion with family.
