Ruth Doyle

July 19, 1932 — October 13, 2025

Willie Ruth Doyle, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on October 13, 2025. She was 93 years old.

Born on July 19, 1932, to Tom & Glacie Reid in Blount County, Alabama. Ruth's life was a testament to love and devotion to her family. She graduated from Locust Fork High School in 1950, marking the beginning of a journey filled with meaningful relationships, deep faith, and a love for the simple joys of life.

Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frederick Cleveland Doyle, Jr., and her sibling: Marie Frances Huffstutler. While we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing she has been reunited with those she loved and heard the words she had longed to hear for so many years, "Well Done"! She loved the Lord with all her heart and truly knew the price paid at Calvary on the cross.

Ruth was a cherished member of Parkwood Church of God in Bessemer, Alabama, where her faith flourished through the years touching the lives of many with her kindness and unwavering belief.

On July 5, 1951, Ruth married her soulmate, Frederick Cleveland Doyle, in front of her parents' home in Blount County, Alabama. Soon after, they moved to Birmingham and built a home where they found joy in working together to cultivate vegetable gardens and nurture the beauty of their surroundings. All their vegetables did well except the watermelon's. When these didn't turn out, they excitedly went to the Farmer's Market with everyone to pick out the right one to bring home! Ruth took such pride in canning fresh vegetables and juice for the winter. Ruth and Fred created so many memories and fun times for their family all throughout the years!

Ruth had a deep appreciation for the beauty of the world beyond her garden, and she especially cherished the time spent traveling with her family. Whether it was the sun-kissed shores of the beach, the misty peaks of the Blue Ridge Mountains, or the adventures of visiting extended family across the country, Ruth found joy in exploring new places and making memories with those she loved. These trips were always filled with laughter, shared stories, and moments of togetherness that became treasured chapters in the family's story. Some of her best memories were 45 years of camping in Elkmont, a short distance from Gatlinburg, TN. Simple memories of walks, bike rides, floating down the river, baking potatoes in the coals of the fire, and of course, watching the bear families come into the campground were just a few of the moments she loved. When the sun began to set, they took everyone to Gatlinburg for a night of fun, and of course, to the Smokey Mountain Candy Kitchen, which was the highlight of the day!

Their marriage of 62 years was a partnership built on love, mutual respect, and shared dreams.

Ruth was known for her generosity and warmth, especially when it came to hosting her family during the holidays. Christmas, in particular, was a time when her home was filled with love, laughter, and the scent of freshly baked treats. Her holiday traditions created lasting memories for all who were fortunate enough to gather around her table. For years at Thanksgiving, everyone couldn't wait to get through eating to run downstairs to watch the movie "Christmas Vacation". So much laughter when everyone was together and she loved and treasured every minute!

Ruth's legacy lives on in her children: Glenn Doyle, Theresa Doyle Davis (Steve) and Jennifer Doyle Lovelady (Wes) who were the heart of Ruth's world, including 7 grandchildren: Courtney Caldwell (Brent), Jarad Davis, Bryant Davis (Jamie), Brady Davis (Heather), Nick Doyle, Pierce Lovelady, and Braxton Lovelady, along with 9 great grandchildren: Nathan Caldwell, Brianna Caldwell, Bryce Caldwell, Bryson Davis, Sonia Davis, Rachel Stewart, Lydia Stewart, Parker Davis, and Kenna Davis, and also her great grand-dog, "Murphy", all of whom brought her immeasurable joy, along with her nephews, Dewayne Huffstutler (Kenitha), and Gary Huffstutler.

Ruth will be remembered for her quiet strength, her deep love for her family, and the peace she found in the simple beauty of life. Her legacy of faith, love, and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew her. She poured the love of Jesus into all her family and continued to remind everyone we are only here for a short time compared to eternity, and for everyone to stay "prayed-up" and ready to go when the Lord should come or call.

A private family graveside service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, October 20th, at 11:00 a.m. in Blount County, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital in her honor, which was a ministry close to her heart.
