Wayne Wilson Dill was born on December 21, 1929 to Aubrey and Cora Wilson in Tallassee, Alabama and passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on May 7, 2026.
Wayne grew up in a home full of love and carried that same environment into her own home. Her great love story started at only 18, when she met her future husband, James Lancil Dill Sr., who asked her to marry him on the second date. After 3 years of dating, Wayne finally agreed to a double wedding alongside her sister, Barbara. The couple was happily married for over 43 years.
Wayne was a loyal daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was the epitome of a classy southern lady- from her perfectly styled outfits, to the way she shared her love for the Lord with everyone she encountered. She was a devoted member of Shades Mountain Community Church and loved studying her bible daily. She knew her bible backwards and forwards, readily quoting scripture to her loved ones.
Wayne loved reading, shopping, and cleaning. Her lips were never without a coat of bright lipstick, and every doorknob in her house shone. She used her sharp wit to support her loved ones- she never forgot to send a birthday card or give a friend a call. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and left behind beautiful memories with each. Her loyalty and joyful demeanor will be greatly missed and forever cherished by each heart she touched.
Wayne is preceded in death by her mother, father, and sister- Cora Wilson, Aubrey Darden Wilson, and Barbara Bailey, along with her husband, James Lancil Dill Sr., and many other family members and friends. She is survived by her son, Jim Dill Jr. (Ramona), daughter Jennifer Wallace, grandchildren Zac Dill (Cassidy), Forrest Dill (Tori), and Aubrey Hutchison (Dylan), and great-grandchildren Maci, Carson, and Abigail. She leaves behind a legacy of 96 years of faithfulness and patience, with many lives touched along the way.
Visitation for Wayne will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 from 10-11am at Currie-Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Jefferson Memorial Gardens South in Hoover, Alabama.
