Vernon Burnett Gibson

Vernon Burnett Gibson, died on Dec. 8, 2019, at the age of 84. He was born in Blaine, Mississippi, on Sept. 28, 1935. He graduated from Sunflower County High School and Mississippi State University. He was a long time member of Chace Lake Golf Club and he enjoyed golfing and family vacations. He was a retired accountant. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Burnett Gibson and Pauline Davis Gibson; his sister, Carline Gibson Ellis; and a grandson by marriage, Joseph Smith, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Caroline “Carol” Goodwin Gibson; his son, Vernon Gibson, Jr. and his wife, Laurel; his daughter, Elizabeth “Betsy” Fleet and her husband, Rick Jarrett; his grandsons, Galen and Garrett Fleet and a grandson by marriage, Trevor Smith and his wife, Elizabeth; great grandchildren by marriage, Veda, Abby, and Samuel Smith; and 1 sister and 1 brother.

Visitation will be December 12, 2019, at 1:00 PM with a graveside service a 2:00 PM at Currie Jefferson Funeral Home, 2701 John Hawkins Parkway, Hoover, Alabama.
