Velma O'Neal

Velma Jo Robinson O’Neal, 82, of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2019.

She was born in Fort Worth, Texas on March 24, 1937 and resided in Birmingham, Alabama for most of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Barney J. Robinson and Nina Mae Robinson, her son, Michael Lee O’Neal, her granddaughter, Caroline Elizabeth O’Neal and her husband, Glen Eldon O’Neal.

Velma is survived by her son, Richard Eldon O’Neal (Lynn), son, Robert Dunstan O’Neal (Curran) and grandchildren, Katherine Elizabeth O’Neal and Michael Steven O’Neal. She is also survived by her brother, Donnie Lee Robinson and sister, Debbie Proctor.

Velma was a member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church for sixty years where she served in numerous ministries of the church. She was a member of the Sanctuary choir, the Dawsonairs, and she served many years as a chaperone for Chapel Choir Tour. She was very active in her Sunday School Class where she served as President.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. The funeral service will begin from the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am with Reverend Chuck Williamson officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens South.
