Timothy Lynn Harris, 69-years-old, died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, February 16, 2023, after succumbing to a brief illness.  His unwavering faith in God, independent spirit and concern for others were in full evidence until his passing.

Timothy (Tim) was born in 1953 in Birmingham, Alabama to James and Elizabeth Harris and was the second of four brothers. Tim attended high school in Jefferson County (Fairfield) and graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing/business management.  Over the course of his professional life, he owned and/or managed several businesses leading up to his retirement.

Tim was known for his kind, gentle and giving spirit, spending his adult life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, cousin, coach mentor and friend.  He was a natural gifted athlete and picked up essentially any sport with ease. He even mastered ice hockey and played for many years within the Birmingham Amateur Hockey Association.  Tim remained an active and ranked amateur tennis player throughout his retirement.

Tim loved the University of Mississippi and was an Ole Miss Rebel to his core.  He was also an avid student of American history and participated for many years in Civil War Reenactments with the 4Th Alabama Cavalry.

However, Tim’s proudest earthly accomplishment was his son, Matt.  Being blessed as Matt’s father, coach, and mentor, witnessing his son’s achievements, both scholastically and as a basketball and soccer player, watching Matt become the fine young man of character he is today, marrying Brittany, an incredible young woman, and becoming a father himself with the recent birth of a son, Luke, was a gift from God and a source of joy for Tim each and every day.

Most importantly, Tim possessed a deep faith and joy for the Lord that only grew stronger throughout his life.  His love and relationship with the Lord was evidenced by all who knew him, almost always ending every conversation with a positive encouraging word.  Tim’s love for the Lord, unconditional love for his family, and generosity will always be remembered and cherished.

Tim is survived by one son; Matt (Brittany) Harris, of Calera; two brothers; Roger Harris of Birmingham; and Patrick (Jana) Harris of Huntsville; one grandchild; Luke Harris, and multiple nieces and nephews.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elizabeth, and his oldest brother, Jim, Jr.
