Stephen is predeceased by his father, Norse Luker, as well as his beloved sister-in-law, Carol Lazar Luker and cousin, Susan Baggett Warr. He is survived by his mother, Martha Luker Hales; his former wife, Ruth Anne Glausier Luker; daughter, Leigh Ellen Luker Stephens (husband, Joe); son, Taylor Stinson (wife, Kristi and granddaughter, CeCe); daughter, Mallory Scruggs (husband, Brett); stepfather, Lamar Hales; brother, Roger Luker; sister, Rebecca Luker-Burstein (husband, Danny); sister, Suzanne Luker; and numerous beloved uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Stephen graduated from Thompson High School, where he played football and basketball, and sang in ensemble and choir. He graduated from University of Montevallo, where he was an active member of the ATO fraternity. Lifetime friends from both schools he enjoyed.
Stephen loved the Lord and attended West End Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Alabaster, Shades Mountain Baptist Church, and Church of The Highlands. He was an avid Alabama fan. His willingness to help others and his sunny disposition were known by all who knew him. The family thanks all the doctors, nurses, and other hospital employees who cared for him at both Shelby and Brookwood.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2020 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, AL. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:00 am from the funeral home chapel.
