Stephanie Strickland Colclough, 51, passed away unexpectedly on October 14, 2025.
She was born April 26,1974, and raised in Danville, Virginia before eventually graduating from Virgil I. Grissom High School in Huntsville, Alabama in 1992. She graduated from Auburn University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Human Resource Management. She earned her master's in education from the University of West Alabama in 2021. Stephanie was a member of the Epsilon Eta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma while a student at Auburn and volunteered as an advisor for the chapter at the time of her passing.
Teaching young people was her passion and she received many accolades from faculty, staff, parents, and especially those young souls she taught. Stephanie believed in education and spent many hours outside the classroom preparing her lessons to ensure her students were taught to the absolute best of her ability. She believed in the old school methods of reading, writing, and arithmetic and constantly encouraged her students to strive for excellence.
Although she was a passionate educator, she was first and foremost a loving wife, mother, and daughter. She was a truly genuine person who cared for all those she encountered. Her love of life included being surrounded by her three wonderful pups: Domino, Pearl, and Emmi.
She was preceded in death by her loving father Ron Strickland, a truly fine gentleman, whom she adored and emulated in all her endeavors. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Steve Colclough, her sons Drew Colclough and Harris Colclough, her mother Kaye Strickland Mikus, her aunt and uncle Alan and Kelly Brumfield, and her mother-in-law Ginger Weirich.
Stephanie's memorial service will be held Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at The Station Church, 6270 Park South Drive, Bessemer, Alabama 35022. The Colclough's specifically request that in lieu of flowers, those who wish to do so make a donation in Stephanie's honor to either Samaritan's Purse or TPUSA.
