of Birmingham, passed away Monday, May 23, 2005. Stella was born December 4, 1919 in Birmingham, Alabama. She attended Montevallo College. Stella married John N. Mauter in 1945 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She worked at Argo & Company for numerous years. Original members of Our Lady of the Valley Church on Highway 119 in Shelby County, Stella and John were also co-owners of Big John's BBQ in Tarrant for several years. Stella was preceded in death by her brother, Tom Robinson, and parents, Jess Robinson and Stella Sharit Robinson of Morris, AL. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, John Mauter; daughter, Patricia Perry Crank of Virginia Beach, VA; and son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Sherri Mauter of Birmingham; two grandsons, Stephen Samuel Perry and his wife, Michelle of Norfolk, VA, and Brian Joseph Perry of La Jolla, CA. Stella also has cousins who were very special to her and our family. The family wants to express appreciation to the Care First Providers for their assistance and the staff at Kirklin Clinic for their compassionate treatment during the last eight months. Special thanks to Dr. Sara Rahman of UAB Geriatrics for the caring relationship she formed with Stella. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 25, 2005, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy. 150, Hoover, with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Funeral Service will be on Thursday, May 26, 2005, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Father Ray Dunmyer officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home directing.
