Sammie, beloved mother, passed away peacefully in her home.

Sammie was a faithful member of Smithville Baptist Church. She was actively involved in church life, programs, and projects until her health no longer permitted it.

She was also a supporter and volunteer of the former Alliance School and the Oak Grove Schools, particularly the band and baseball programs, during the years her children and grandchildren attended.

She loved sewing, especially quilting. Through her quilting group, many quilts were donated to hospitals for cancer patients and victims of natural disasters.

She was born in Jefferson County Alabama, and lived in the area all of her 98 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years Burl Vines; her children Burl Lee (Buddy) Vines, Renay Roper, Sheila Funderburk, and Charles (Skip) Vines; granddaughters Samantha Nelson, and Shannon Funderburk; parents Victor and Lora Mooneyham; and sister Ruby McInnis.

She is survived by her children Elaine Carpenter (Bill), Dana Yates, Sharlet Lange (Bobby), James (Tad) Vines, and Shirley Vines; Grandchildren Tammie Simpson (Mike), Jennifer Baron (Michael), Daniel Carpenter (Jayde), Sharon Echols, Rebecca Birchfield, Annette Lambert, Destry Vines (Katie), Michelle Riley (Mark), Jessica Chambers (Robbie), Robert Lange (Dana), Casey Lange, Sasha Short, Alexis Soukup (Peter); 23 great grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends who all loved her and will miss her.
