Rev. Jerry Batts

Rev. Jerry M. Batts, of Hoover, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, December 30, 2017, at the age of 87. He was a graduate of both Wheaton College and Dallas Theological Seminary. Jerry served as pastor of 4 churches over the span of 60 years, finishing his service for the Lord as Senior Adults Pastor at Shades Mountain Community Church.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Batts, 2 sons, J. Mark Batts (Maria) and Larry Batts (Angie); 5 grandchildren, Beth Ann Lathbury (Jonah), Ashley Batts, Joshua Batts (Rachael), David Batts (Lindsay), and Allison Smolin (Ben); and 11 great grandchildren, Jaxon, Max, and Lexi Lathbury, Donovan Batts and Dylan Johnson, Brady, Davis, and Carter Batts, Will Batts, and Sage and Jude Smolin.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 - 1:30, Thursday, January 4, 2018, at Shades Mountain Community Church. Service will follow at 1:30, Dr. Rick Goertzen officiating. Entombment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
