In Loving Memory of Peggy Anne Wert

Peggy Anne Wert 91, beloved mother, wife, grandmother and mother in law was called to be with the Lord on March 11th, 2026. She entered this world on May 10th 1934 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, born to William and Dorothy Everett.

She is survived by her son David Wert, daughter Amy Wolnski, six grandchildren, Matthew, Karen and Nathan Wert, Julia, Alexandra and Alina Wolnski, daughter in law Brenda Wert, son in law Peter Wolnski and granddaughter in law Lauren Wert. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Rowland, her husband Paul Wert and daughter Karen Wert.

Peggy studied Dental Hygiene at the University of Pennsylvania and moved back home after college where she worked as a Dental Hygienist.

She met the love of her life Paul Wert, a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. They were married on September 3rd, 1955. After marriage their life involved frequent moves as Paul served in the Air Force. They were stationed in Tennessee, France, Tampa, Montana, Bermuda, North Carolina and Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. After retirement they settled in Birmingham, Alabama on four acres where Peggy and Paul enjoyed gardening, growing fruit trees and bee keeping. They started attending Shades Mountain Bible Church which soon became their church home and remained so for many years.

It was the tragic accident of her daughter that motivated Peggy to become a volunteer at Shelby Hospital where she served for many years. Peggy loved spending time with her many friends especially on trips to the beach. Most of all Peggy cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren. She was a devout Christian with a steadfast, deeply personal and intimate faith in Christ. Throughout her life she lived her faith authentically through real acts of service and kindness.
