of Vestavia Hills, AL. passed away on Saturday March 19, 2005. She was born in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on February 29, 1916. She is preceded in death by her husband Edward W. Hawkins Jr., son Keith B. Hawkins, three brothers and one sister. She was a member of JBY Dance Club, Vestavia Seniors Dance Group, Birmingham Ball Room Dance Association, Acme Cajun Dance, Foot Mad Contra, International Folk Dancers and Scottish Tar Tan airs. She was an ice skater, ice dancer, and snow skier. She did long distance bicycling, canoeing, backpacking, mountain climbing, hiking on the Appalachian Trail, and swimming. She is survived by sons Edward W. Hawkins III of Homewood, and Paul K. Hawkins (Debra) of Wilsonville. Grandsons John E. Hawkins and Michael Shane Hawkins (Erin). Granddaughters Jennine Poe (Michael), Rachel McDow (Ben) and Ashley Hawkins. Great-Grandsons Lindsey Hawkins, Andrew Poe, and Michael Shane Hawkins II. She was happly involved with her Children, Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. She as a member of Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church and "The Club" inc. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 from 6 until 8 p.m. and Wednesday, March 23 from 2 until 5 p.m. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150, Hoover. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday March 24, 2005 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home directing.
