Pauline Haapanen

June 25, 1942 — February 24, 2026

Birmingham, Alabama

Pauline “Polly” Haapanen, age 83, passed peacefully in her sleep, entering into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family.

Polly was born on June 25, 1942, in Sylacauga, Alabama. She graduated from Bessemer High School and had an early career as a model before dedicating many years of faithful service to the Jefferson County Commission, including work within the Family Court system where her compassion and gentle spirit reflected her strong Christian values.

As a young woman, Polly shared her love of music and faith as a member of the gospel quartet, the Joy Bells, where she joyfully lifted her voice in praise and developed a lifelong passion for worship through song.

She was a beloved independent beauty consultant with Mary Kay, building a successful business not only helping women look beautiful, but encouraging confidence, kindness, and fellowship. Polly believed true beauty came from a joyful heart and a life grounded in faith.

A woman of deep and unwavering faith, Polly was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Hoover. She loved Jesus wholeheartedly and expressed her faith through worship and service, especially as a dedicated member of the church choir. Singing praises brought her great joy, and her life was a testimony to grace, love, and compassion.

Above all, Polly cherished her family, whom she loved selflessly and prayed for faithfully. She gave her whole heart to those she loved, offering encouragement, wisdom, and unconditional love. Her legacy lives on through the faith she shared and the lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Timo Haapanen, and her son, Donald Miller.

She is survived by her son, David “Brian” Miller; her daughter, Rhonda Morris; her step daughter Dorri Goldschmidt. Her granddaughters, Tosha Morris, Briana Brown, Jenny Goldschmidt, her grandsons Trey Morris and Casey Goldschmidt, Jacob Miller and cherished greatgrandchildren, along with extended family and friends who rejoice in the promise of being reunited with her again.

A Celebration of Life honoring Polly’s life and faith will be held at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, 2701 John Hawkins Parkway, Hoover, Alabama 35244. Family visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., with friends received from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by the service at 2:00 p.m.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in God’s promise of eternal life and rejoices knowing Polly is now at peace, singing in Heaven and resting in the arms of her Savior.
