Obituary

Norma Morucci Fink, 90, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away peacefully at home on August 15, 2026. She is survived by her four children Lisa Fink Weaver (Roy) of Birmingham, AL, James Allen Fink of West Palm Beach, FL, Jeffrey John Fink (Farley) of Anniston, AL, and Cathleen Fink Hudson (Ben) of Birmingham, AL; her thirteen grandchildren Cathryn Weaver Brady (Joe), Clair Weaver Hanson (John), Anne Margaret Weaver Smith (Slade), John Weaver, Alex Fink (Madelyn), Jack Fink, Billy Fink, Grace Fink Brown, Adele Fink, Camille Fink Burdeshaw (Jake), Ben Hudson (Sara), Claudia Hudson Puhnaty (Justin), Lucy Hudson, seventeen great grandchildren and her brother Ben Morucci (Mary) of Youngstown, OH.

She is predeceased by her husband of 64 years, James Arthur Fink: her sisters Yola Ciolli, Mary Crocetti and her brother Joe Morucci.

She was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on March 6, 1936 to the late Adele and Benedetto Morucci. Her parents were immigrants from Italy who sacrificed the comforts of all that was familiar to them for the hope of a better future for their children. Her childhood reflected the challenges and sacrifices of pioneering a new life in a new country. She was raised in Youngstown and graduated from East High School.

Jim and Norma met in Youngstown. As a recent college graduate, Jim rented a room next door to start his new job in the steel industry. They liked to refer to the meeting as a divine intervention, married May 16, 1959, and were transferred numerous times to accommodate Jim’s career until settling in Gadsden, Alabama where they raised their family, and ultimately retired in Birmingham, Alabama.

Her greatest joys in life were her family and her faith. She was known as Mimi to her grandchildren and provided a home that was full of love and laughter that attracted not only her own family but their friends as well.

Sunday lunches were times to gather together as a family and she ensured there was more than enough for her family as well as any guests that might accompany them. Interruptions or last-minute guests never bothered her. The meal always included some form of pasta.

She loved the beach. It was a destination for annual family trips over the years that provided an abundance of memories for their children and grandchildren. The trips ended with awards given to each grandchild for some memorable event or characteristic that happened during the week.

Beach trips and Sunday lunches fostered a closeness between siblings, children and cousins that continues to grow and is passing down to the next generation.

For over ten years Mimi and Poppi sent a Bible verse daily to their children and grandchildren to encourage them in their faith and remind them of their love for them and included birthday or anniversary wishes.

She loved people. If you met her as a stranger you didn’t remain a stranger for long. Everyone loved Norma. Her laugh was infectious and would brighten any room she entered. Nobody could resist her laugh. She had a special place in her heart for underprivileged children and for children with special needs and devoted her time and energy to both. She was a true servant in her community and to her family.

Norma’s life was marked by gratitude for all the good things she was able to enjoy throughout her life. She will be greatly missed but her legacy will be carried out through those she loved and loved her.

The family wanted to give special thanks to HomeRN Birmingham for the excellent care they provided our mother. We especially want to thank Michelle Mufasa, Kim Weaver and Xanieya Bright for the kindness, love and respect they showed our mother in her last few years. We will be forever grateful.
