Nicholle Elise Nastiuk Howard, 50, of Minneapolis, MN, passed away December 7, 2022. She is finally at peace.

Nicholle is survived by her daughter AnnaLynn Elise Howard; her brothers Mark Edwin (Sharon) Nastiuk, Glenn (Kathleen) Nastiuk and twin sister Michelle (Missi) Grantham; and a host of loving nieces and nephews, cousins and incredible friends. Nicholle was preceeded in death by her parents, Wesly Victor Nastiuk (2019) and Darlene Elise Johnson Nastiuk(2006), as well as her oldest brother, Mark Allyn Nastiuk (2018)

She was born August 3, 1972 to Wesly Victor Nastiuk and Darlene Elise Nastiuk in Minneapolis, MN. Nicholle was the first born of twin girls, and 4th of 5 children born to her parents.

She lived in Minneapolis until she was almost 5, and then her family moved to Bedford, Texas June of 1977. There she completed kindergarten and 1st grade at Bellaire Elementary. May of 1979, her family moved again to Hoover, Alabama where she lived most of her life. She completed 2nd through 6th grade at Gwin Elementary. She participated in many sports in elementary school: softball, soccer, swimming, hockey, etc. She attended Simmons Jr. High for 7th and 8th grade where she was inducted into Honor Society and played basketball and volleyball for the school. She attended Berry High School grades 9th – 12th and graduated May 1990. While at Berry High School, she participated in basketball, volleyball, soccer, cross country and track. She was also inducted into Honor Society at Berry. She attended Lee College in Cleveland, TN from 1990-1994. She played volleyball 1990-1991, participated in the Acts of God drama team, was a member of Sigma Nu Sigma and Pi Kappa Pi little sister. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Communications and was asked the be the guest speaker for her baccalaureate ceremony. She then attended graduate school and graduated from The University of Montevallo with her Masters of Education in May 1996.

In her professional career, Nicholle was a favorite teacher in the classroom and loved by the fellow teachers she worked with. She worked at Oak Mountain Middle School and then taught at Pizitz Middle School. She was a beloved volleyball coach to her middle school girls. She loved teaching and helping our young people open their minds to English, reading and writing. In February 2003, Nicholle became a mom to a beautiful little girl, AnnaLynn, whom she adored!

Nicholle was a natural at sports (name one, any one of them), a talented artist, incredible writer and deep thinker with religion and philosophy. Nicholle loved God with her whole being. She loved the outdoors, camping under the stars, and appreciated the quiet in the woods when she went hunting or outdoors when we went running. She was a practical jokester and she could make everyone laugh. She also had a tender heart and was not one to watch someone hurting without offering comfort or a kind word. Well-rounded and diverse, she also remained quiet initially when meeting someone to “take it all in”; but once you earned her trust she was loyal and opened her heart to you. The greatest gift and compliment she could give you was her trust.

We will all deeply miss the smart, silly, adventurous, and loving human being that she was. The deep grief we all feel comes from the deep love we all had for her. And we hold the memories of her in our hearts.
