Mira Vann

Mira Fairly Vann of Hoover, Alabama passed peacefully into eternity with her Lord and Savior at her home on August 12, 2025 surrounded by her family.

Mira was born to Erle Bryant Fairly and Elmira Belle Hetherington Fairly on July 13, 1938 in Fountain, Alabama. She graduated in 1956 from Monroe County High School before attending Howard College (now Samford University) where she studied Music. On move-in day of her freshman year, she met the love of her life, Lowell Vann. They began their creative and adventurous life together on March 27, 1958.

Mira's love for music and Jesus was always a cornerstone in her life- from her passion for playing the piano, performing with the hand bell choir at her church, singing in the church choir, to teaching music to children for over 30 years. She began teaching at Green Valley Baptist Church Preschool in 1971 and served in many roles, ultimately becoming the Preschool Director in 1993. Mira Vann was known as a true mentor and educator, and was beloved for over three decades of ministry to thousands of preschoolers from the over-the-mountain community until her retirement in 2005.

Mira and Lowell were blessed with 4 wonderful children- Mark, Kim, Vicki, and Jana.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Alan Kim Vann.

Mira is survived by her husband of 67 years, Lowell Cecil Vann, her son, Marcus Lowell Vann (Judy)- children Ashley, Dustin (Stephanie) and Brock; daughter Vicki Vann Steelman (Scott) - children Abbie Boatwright (Wes), Katie Frankum (Will), and Maggie; and daughter Jana Vann Trask (Kimo)- children Malia, Kiana and Nanea, along with 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Kenneth Erle Fairly (Barbara), dearly loved in-laws and many nieces and nephews.

A family interment will be held at Cullman City Cemetery on Tuesday, August 19th.

The family welcomes all to join in a celebration of Mira's beautiful life held at Green Valley Church in Hoover, AL on September 7th, 2025 at 2pm.
