Michael T. Schley left this world on January 29, 2021, in his hometown of Birmingham, Alabama. Michael was a kind soul who loved his family and cherished his friends. He never met a person he didn’t like, and he never had a bad word to say about anyone. He will be deeply missed.
Michael is survived by his daughters, Carol “Cas” Schley and Mariah Schley; his brothers, Cooper Schley, Jr., Thomas Schley, and Henry Schley; sister, Isabelle Bryant Ochsner; along with his step-mother, Helen Schley. He is preceded in death by his mother, Carol Watt Schley, his father, Cooper Schley, Sr., and his brother, David Schley.
Michael loved sci-fi (Dr. Who, Star Wars and Star Trek, anyone?), and anime. He took great joy in sharing that love with his daughters. He leaves them many toys, models, DVDs, and ornaments to remember just how much.
He took great pride in his work developing software. The feeling of accomplishment of a job well done kept him always upbeat, and he was fun to work with. He cherished all the friends he made through the years in his career at Tapscan (and all its transformations), as well as WideOrbit. They were like family to him.
A memorial service will be held for Michael on Saturday, February 13 at 2:00 at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home on John Hawkins Parkway in Hoover, Alabama. A visitation will precede at 1:00 for his friends to gather and share stories. Masks and social distancing will be required.
