Melinda Beth Breland Scott, native of Mobile, Alabama, and resident of Hoover, Alabama, passed away Monday, November 6, 2023, at the age of 43. She was beloved by so many.
As a young woman, Melinda contributed to her Mobile Alma Mater by serving as Class President, Cheerleading Captain, and Miss Viking. She represented her Mobile Community by being chosen Azalea Trail Maid. She later found that her most treasured roles were those of wife and mother.
Melinda and Tom married on October 2, 2010, in Mobile, Alabama. Having found their perfect counterparts with a mix of intellectual conversation, deep affection, a love for the Lord, and a passion for serving others, they began a forever journey together. They added three spirited children to the mix and life became full of crafts, practices, games, carpools, and friends. Melinda volunteered many hours at Gwin Elementary School, led numerous small groups at Church of the Highlands, and always made time to check in on the people she loved most. Her world revolved around family and a rich community of neighbors and friends. Additionally, Melinda was a successful real estate agent who poured her whole heart into finding “the perfect home” for her clients, not just a house. Those who knew her best will remember she was always humming or singing the song in her heart, picking up more paint samples, and finding ways to brighten someone’s day. Melinda made everything beautiful. She added a whimsical note to life which we all cherished.
Melinda was reunited with her father, Willis Earl Breland, in heaven. She is survived by her devoted husband of 13 years, Thomas Watson Scott, III, two sons, Thomas Watson Scott, IV, Adam Ward Scott, and a daughter, Elizabeth Frances Scott, mother, Ruth Ellen Breland, two sisters, Sara Ruth Knox (Carrey), Celia (niece), Noah, William, Andrew (nephews) and Cynthia Lynn Mintz (Brian), Amelia (niece), aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and friends.
