Medhat Helmi

October 5, 1930 — April 11, 2017

Medhat A. Helmi, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at age 86. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois in Urbana and a Professor Emeritus. He retired from UAB after 24 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Soad Helmi; three sons, Yasser, Keno and Hany Helmi; grandchildren, Gavin, Emmy, Seona, Inara and Marin; one brother, Saad.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 10 A.M. until 11 A.M. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at a later date.
