Mary Mackey

"Mary "Joyce" Mackey, 88, July 3, 1934- June 11, 2023, passed away of natural causes. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Mackey, and preceded in death by her loving husband, Woodrow Mackey, daughter Rhonda Branyon (David), son Richard Mackey (Dianne) and infant son Gregory Mackey.

Joyce Starnes was born in Birmingham where she married Woody Mackey on her 18th birthday in 1952 and their story began. That story took them across the country and back again, always together, always striving to build a beautiful family. While she was a generally quiet person, no one who knew her would consider her weak or less than kind at all times. She spent a lot of her time keeping her husband's clothes from clashing, and her children from running amok. Together they spent 66 years creating a beautiful, sometimes heartbreaking but always loving life.

Joyce will be remembered for her love, strength and kindness. She will be missed by her daughter, siblings, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many friends."
