Mary Linda Lynch Jones (Linda Lou)May 15, 1943 – January 22, 2026 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Linda Lynch Jones, affectionately known as Linda Lou, at the age of 82, on January 22, 2026, in Madison, AL. Born on May 15, 1943, in Clay County, AL, to John Thomas Lynch and Mary Emma Bailey Lynch, Linda Lou lived a life full of love, compassion, and service to others.

 Linda Lou leaves behind a legacy of cherished relationships, including her son Stacy Long, her beloved niece Terri Lynch Willis, and numerous extended relatives and friends. She was also a loving “mother” to many, with adopted children Rachael, Meredith, Stacy, Heather, Eric, and Joel, and grandchildren Cory, Leah, Mackenzie, Katelyn, Cierra, Selena, Shannon, Destiny, Remi, Colton, Skyler, Jonathan, Jenna, Kayla, Kerra, Clare, Marylin, JR, and Cleavonne. Her great-grandchildren MJ, Sky, Tripp, Raiden, Onyx, Adalynn, Jameson, and Emory brought her immense joy and pride. 

Linda Lou retired after more than 50 years of dedicated service with the United States Postal Service, where she was not only a respected employee but also an active member of the American Postal Workers Union (APWU), representing the union for many decades. 

She was a lifelong advocate for others, known for her generosity and heartfelt donations to various charitable organizations over the years. Her love for travel and her deep connections to friends and family brought her great happiness. Linda Lou had a magnetic personality, a strong will, a beautiful spirit, and a heart as big as her smile. She loved being surrounded by people who brought her joy and laughter. She was the cornerstone of countless friendships that spanned over 30+ years or more, including those with Jan, Marylin, Dale, Glenn, Burns, her Cruise Sisters, co-workers, and many others. 

Her life was a testament to the power of kindness, laughter, and love. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and John Lynch, her siblings Catherine Marie Harrell, and brothers John Everette Lynch, Fred Earl Lynch, and Charles Edward Lynch, as well as several beloved nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family. 

A celebration of Linda Lou’s life and burial service will be held on February 4, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Central at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home & Jefferson Memorial Gardens (2701 John Hawkins Pkwy, Hoover, AL). 

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who loved and cared for Linda Lou throughout her lifetime. She will forever be remembered for her unwavering love, kindness, and the indelible mark she left on the hearts of so many.
