Mary Lynn Hendricks

March 2, 1939 - February 13, 2024

Mary Lynn "West" "MarLynn" Hendricks, age 84, went peacefully on February 13, 2024 at home.

MarLynn was born in West Blockton, Alabama, on March 2, 1939, the second child of OOlif Young West and Lyda Belle Moore. She was raised in Smith Hill, near West Blockton. In the late 1940s, she moved with her family to Birmingham. Eventually, while working at Connor Steele, in the transportation office, she met Carl Hendricks and attended an office BBQ at Carl's request.

Not long after, mid 1960s, the couple married, and settled in the southside of Birmingham.

In the early 1970s, they moved to Indian Springs Village, where they built their home. They travelled often, more often by train than any other way, as Carl did not care to fit into an airplane, given his height. MarLynn spent her time as a wife and working woman but most remembered as the second mother to her four nephews and nieces. Once Carl passed, MarLynn busied herself by traveling and staying very engaged in the Indian Springs Village Gardening Club.

In 2015, MarLynn sold her place and moved to Kathleen, GA. Becoming very engaged in Southside Baptist Church.

She is survived by, her sister, Suzanne (Gene) Fisher, as well as her nephew, Randy (Amy) Bright, niece, Molly Darby, niece Anita (Steven) Bright and nephew, Robert (Amy) Fisher.

She was preceded in death by her husband Carl Hendricks, her parents, Olif and Lyda West and her sister, Peggy Bright.

A visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 PM and service at 2:00 PM on February 16th at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home with a graveside service immediately following.
