Martha Yawn

Martha Morrow Yawn know to many, especially her grandchildren as “Memama” peacefully passed away at 7:05pm on September 12, 2022, and was surrounded by her family. She was born July 24, 1931 and lived most of her life in Helena, Alabama and is preceded in death by her parents Hugh Morrow and Reine Fore (Tom), her husband of 57 years Dennis Yawn, her eldest son, Timothy Dennis Yawn and her granddaughter Erin Chelsea Benson. She is survived by her sisters Betty Ogburn and Jo Sims; daughter Gail Yawn Benson (Eric) of Pensacola Florida, Laura Lorraine Steele (Donald), of Pelham, Alabama; son Russell Yawn of Helena; grandchildren Lauren Benson Shaw (Thomas), Jordan Benson, Logan Benson, Landon Benson, Peyton Benson; Madison Steele Terry (Jacob), Sam Steele, Molly Steele, Macy Steele; Noah Dennis Yawn and Ella Grace Yawn, great grandchildren Olivia Shaw, Eli Shaw, Isabelle Terry and Adah Terry.
Martha Yawn's family will receive friends and loved ones at the Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, 2107 John Hawkins Parkway, Hoover, Alabama, from 1:00-2:00PM on Saturday, September 17, 2022, with the celebration of her life following immediately afterward with Danny Fredricks officiating. Interment will be at the Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South concluding the service. Her pallbearers, all of her six grandsons, will carry her to her resting place between her husband and her son.
The family of Martha Yawn wants her to be remembered for how she lived. Her first love was her Lord and her second love being her husband and third her family and she was unfaltering in her commitment to all.
