Marilyn Boyd

Marilyn Stowers Boyd, age 90, died on December 19, 2020 in Birmingham, AL.

Mrs. Boyd was born in Itta Bena, MS to the late Paul and Lula Mae Stowers on October 8, 1930. She graduated from Humphreys High School and attended Mississippi State College for Women.

Mrs. Boyd was married to the late Albert H. (Bill) Boyd, Jr. for 61 years. Marilyn and Bill made their home in Starkville, MS and were active members of The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection. Mrs. Boyd was retired from Mississippi State University.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband and is survived by their three children, Bill Boyd, Mary Windsor Saggus (John), and Rebecca Bates (Drew). By her grandchildren, Britton Boyd (Pam Lee), Amanda Simmons (Josh), Dan Saggus (Ashley), and her great-grandchildren, Meredith Simmons, Connor Simmons, Charlie Saggus, and Cole Saggus. Marilyn also leaves her sisters, Nancy McMinn (Jim) and Paula Bariola (Johnny) and their children and grandchildren.

“Honey” as she was affectionately known, was adored by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the myriad of young people who knew her. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

A private memorial service will be held at The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 1:30 p.m.
