Malcolm Champion, 91, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed from this life to his heavenly home on January 28, 2021. Malcolm Champion was born on December 19, 1929 in Besssemer, AL, to Usery Samuel Champion and Annie Matilda Champion.

Malcolm graduated from Hueytown High School in 1949. He worked as a Template Maker for Pullman Standard in Bessemer. Malcolm married Ida Mae Mahan Champion on on January 17, 1953 in Columbus MS. The couple had three children, Jacqueline Miles, of Pittsboro, NC, Susan Culberson, of Sterrett, AL, and Malcolm David Champion of Oak Grove, AL. Malcolm loved to work in the yard, spend time with family, go to church, listen to gospel music, and watch Alabama football. He could fix anything and loved the challenge. A great sense of humor kept him smiling and he was always making jokes with his family. He served in the Army from 1951 - 1952.

Malcolm is survived by Ida Champion his wife of 68 years, daughter, Jacqueline Miles (Ray Bouldin), of Pittsboro NC, daughter, Susan Culberson (Cliff), of Sterrett, AL, son, Malcolm David Champion (Carol) of Adger, AL, Kevin Miles (Woodson) - grandson, of Atlanta, GA, Kari MacLean (Andrew), granddaughter, of Pittsboro NC, Megan Ingram - granddaughter, Kaitlin Champion - granddaughter, Kelsea Gulsby - grandaughter, Miles MacLean - great-grandson, of Chapel Hill NC, Eloise MacLean - great-granddaughter, of Chapel Hill NC, Fisher MacLean - great-grandson, Malcolm MacLean - great-grandson, sister, Evelyn Ann Arnold, and several nieces and nephews.

Malcolm is preceded in death by Annie Matilda Champion - mother, Usery Samuel Champion - father, John B. Champion - brother, Jeanette Williams - sister.

There will be a graveside service at 11 on February 2nd for the family of Malcolm Champion. Because of Covid, the immediate family understands that many will not be attending. For those who do attend, please wear a mask, stand at a distance, and practice all social distancing guidelines offered by the CDC. Burial: Currie Jefferson Memorial

Memorial donations may be made in Malcolm's honor to Oak Grove Baptist Church, 9161 Camp Oliver Rd, Bessemer, AL 35023.
