Mable Clements Pratt Harris

Mar 17, 1940 — Jul 26, 2026

Hoover, Alabama

Mable Clements Pratt Harris, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and the promises of her faith.

Born on St Patrick’s Day in 1940, Mable grew up in the Riverbend community of Bibb County, Alabama, where she enjoyed an idyllic childhood on the family farm. She was blessed with loving parents, Hardy & Blanche Pratt, a cherished sister Margaret Nell Pratt and a strong Christian foundation that would guide her throughout her life. From an early age, church was central to her family life, and her faith in Christ became the cornerstone upon which she built her life, marriage, and family.

Mable was a lifelong learner and educator. She graduated from the University of Montevallo and later earned a Master's Degree in Special Education from Alabama A&M University. As a teacher, she possessed a genuine love for her students and developed lasting friendships with her fellow educators. She carried a servant's heart into her classroom each day, investing in the lives of countless children.

To know Mable was to know joy. Fun was woven into the fabric of her personality, from childhood adventures playing in the river with friends to treasured family vacations and world travels with her beloved husband, Joe. Her smile could light up a room, her laugh contagious, and her playful spirit brought happiness wherever she went. She approached life with optimism, always seeing the glass half full and encouraging those around her to do the same.

Mable was known for her impeccable attention to detail and her love of keeping things orderly and beautiful. She had an eye for fashion and carried herself with elegance, grace, and class.

Family was Mable's highest earthly priority. She met and married to Joseph Harris and went on to have the pride and joy of her life, her two boys, Gregory Scott and Stephen Joel. She poured her heart into raising her boys and worked tirelessly to create a warm and welcoming home. Holidays were made special with fabulous desserts and treasured family memories as she nurtured the next generations.

Most importantly, Mable loved the Lord. She maintained a steadfast faith throughout every season of life and made certain that her family remained grounded in church and in the teachings of Christ. Even during the many health challenges she faced over the last fifteen years, her faith never wavered.

Mable's legacy is one of faith, love, perseverance, and devotion to family. Her influence lives on in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Joe Harris; her sons Greg (Julie, Hannah, Ryan and Braden Travis and Matthew)and Steve (Jill, Ansley, Ryan and Callan Reeter, Logan & Luke Jasinski and Blake) and her sister, Margaret Nell Smith, niece, Dawn Barkalow and nephew, Todd Barkalow.

While her family grieves her absence, they rejoice in the assurance that she has been welcomed into her eternal home, with her Lord and Savior. Her life was a beautiful testimony to God's faithfulness, and she will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23
