Luther Hester Hyde

“Pete” Luther Hester Hyde, 85

Born on July 8, 1940, Pete was a proud veteran who served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was well known in the Woodstock community as the owner of Y Auto, where he spent over 50 years working hard and serving others.

Pete was a man full of personality—funny, set in his ways, and deeply generous with a kind heart. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed the simple things in life, especially cheering on Alabama Crimson Tide football.

He is survived by his loving spouse of 40 years, Bobby Hyde; his daughter, Kelly (Tim) Fulgham; and his stepson, Tony Myrick. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Angelia Hyde, Kasie Acker, Brandon Myrick, Heath Myrick, and Holly Myrick; and great-grandchildren, Tegan Coffin, Rowan Coffin, Levi Wells, Bentley Myrick, and Brynlee Myrick.

Pete is also survived by his brothers, Kenneth Hyde and Marvin Hyde, and his sister, Dorothy Martin.

He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Grant Hyde; his stepson, Danny Myrick; and his mother, Mary Lou Hyde.

Pete will be remembered for his humor, his strong will, and the love he gave so freely to those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
