Leonard Velez

Leonard Velez of West Blocton, Alabama formerly of Birmingham, Alabama passed away very unexpectedly on Saturday June 7, 2025 at his home at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife Rosa (Prince) and his son Gabriel (Ashley Stano). He is also survived by his sisters: Norma, Patsy, Joyce and Elizabeth all of Indiana and a host of nieces and nephews.

One of 10 children of the late Leo S and Lyndal Velez. He was born on September 6, 1946. His brothers Raymond and Richard Velez as well as his sisters Janice, Rita and Linda preceded him in death. Raised in Decatur, Indiana. He was a retired Brick Mason. Leonard and Rosa were married in 1978 and celebrated nearly 47 years of marriage. He was a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne of the U.S. Army.

The family will receive friends Wednesday June 11, 2025 from 6 - 8pm with a graveside service for family and friends on Thursday June 12, 2025 at 11:45am at the Alabama National Cemetery with Father Brad Jantz presiding.

He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
