Mrs. Joyce Marilyn Dumas, age 89, of McCalla, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home
on Tuesday evening, March 17, 2026.
Marilyn was born in Chaonia, Missouri, on May 7, 1936, to James R. and Edna V. (Forister) Allison. She graduated from Beaumont High School in 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri. Throughout her professional life, Marilyn held various secretarial/bookkeeper positions. In January 1972, she and Bill moved to Ocala, Florida, from the Florissant, Missouri, to become owners of Dumas Sew & Vac. They were in business for many years. In Ocala, Marilyn was actively involved in DAR, Project Pup, and one of the founding members of the Central Florida Hunting Retriever Club. She was the southeast regional PR Director of the national club for several years. In May 2017, she moved to Alabama to live with her daughter Karen. She greatly enjoyed family time, sewing, family genealogy, her golden retrievers, and especially ice cream and chocolate.
A Remembrance Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, March 22, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Interment will be at Bushnell National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida, in the near future.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill Dumas, and her granddaughter Brittany Murnane Hall. She is survived by her daughters Nancy (Thomas) Murnane of Ocoee, FL and Karen Fuller of McCall, AL; grandchildren Ryan {Anna) Murnane of Virginia Beach, VA, Nicholas (Kaylee) Fuller of Alabaster, AL, and grandson-in-law Douglas Hall of Crocker, MO; 6 great grandchildren, Talitha, Manasseh, Aquila, and Benaiah Murnane of Virginia Beach, VA, Sabil and Ben Hall of Croker, MO, plus #7 Blair Fuller due in June 2026; her sister Ruth Hempen of Florissant, MO; and many other family members.
A special thank you to Compassus Hospice for their loving care for mom and the many prayers lifted on her behalf by family and friends during the last few weeks. Thanks for being a blessing to us! " ... the God of the mountain is still God in the valley ... " John 14:27
