Watson, John Harold, of Hoover, AL, passed away June 3, 2025, at the age of 85. He was preceded in death by his parents Annie and William Watson, and his sister Janice Watson.
He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn, daughter Lisa Braddock (Rick), two grandchildren Kaela and Skyler (Laura) Braddock, two great grandchildren Graham and Caden Braddock, all of Hoover. John loved his family dearly.
John graduated from the University of Alabama where he was in the honorary fraternities Phi Tau Sigma and Tau Beta Phi. He was a licensed professional engineer with a degree in mechanical engineering and worked as an environmental engineer for U.S. Pipe & Foundry for 31 years.
He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineering as Company Commander, earning the rank of Captain. He also served in the reserve forces for a total of six years of military service.
John was a former member of Vinesville Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher for teenage boys. He later became a member of Shades Crest Baptist Church. He was a compassionate and loving man. John was a supporter of the Kings Ranch, a regular donor of blood for the Red Cross. He was an avid runner and exerciser and worked out regularly at the YMCA.
Services will be held June 6, 2025, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Visitation is 11:00 and the service is 12:00. Following the services, burial will be held in the adjacent Currie-Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Services will be officiated by Reverend Jeffery Claude Griffis.
