Obituary

John Daniel "Dan" Lott, age 73, passed away on June 12, 2026. Dan grew up in Bessemer, Alabama and spent the remainder of his life in Hoover, Alabama.

He was a devoted husband of 46 years, a loving father, an adored grandfather and a steadfast brother. He lived a life marked by dedication, quiet strength, generosity and a deep love for his family. He took great pride in his work as a local small business owner and approached his responsibilities with integrity, perseverance and care.

Dan was a graduate of Jess Lanier High School in Bessemer, Alabama and during that time achieved Eagle Scout distinction with Boy Scouts of America. An avid outdoorsman, Dan enjoyed time spent hunting with family and friends and he embraced a deep appreciation for nature. He was a member of Brock's Gap Training Center and Tide Pride for over 40 years. He will be remembered for his love of family, his unwavering presence and the lasting impact he made on those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Ernest Lott and Mary Will Autrey Lott.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lue Ann Hazen Lott; his son, Stephen Daniel Lott (Laura Weiss); his cherished granddaughter, Olivia "Liv" Rose Lott, who lovingly knew him as GranDan; his sister, Carolyn Ray Lott; his brother, William A. Lott; his aunt, Charlotte Forester; and many cousins.

The family would like to express appreciation to the following for their care and assistance to Dan and Lue Ann over these past months of Dan's illness:
Jimmy Le with BCBS of Alabama, James Newman at Aspire Recovery and Rehabilitation, Brittany, Coco, Meka, Nikaya, Rashad, Larry and the entire OT/PT and care team at Aspire Rehabilitation in Hoover. Their attention to Dan was unwavering, and their dedication to patient care was key to his comfort.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 2701 John Hawkins Parkway, Hoover, AL 35244. A chapel service will begin at 11:00 a.m., with a graveside service to follow.
