John King

John B. King, of Birmingham, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at age 88.

John was a member of First Baptist Church of Birmingham. He was retired from Bell South after 36 years of service. He was a graduate of the University of Alabama from the college of Commerce and Business Administration. He was an active Tide Pride supporter. John also served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Edna Segrest King; and daughter, Beverly Eileen King.

John is survived by one daughter, Nancy Ann Coker (Carmon); two grandchildren, Jacob Daniel Smith and Julie Ann Smith; and several extended family members and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 17, 2017, from 10-11 AM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home with the service to follow in the Chapel at 11 AM. Interment will be at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church of Birmingham.
