John was born in Birmingham, Alabama, to Deward and Jean Fuqua of Andalusia, AL. From an early age, he demonstrated a vibrant energy, a heart for people, and a natural ability to lead-qualities that would guide him throughout his life. After graduating from Saint James High School, he earned his degree from Auburn University Montgomery.

Before and during college, John worked at Suburban Pharmacy in Montgomery, where he developed an early passion for serving others and a strong work ethic that would shape his life and career. Even as a student, John's natural leadership and dedication to helping those around him were unmistakable. While attending Auburn University Montgomery, he served as Vice President of the Student Government Association, Editor of the school newspaper, and President of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity-a brotherhood he deeply loved and remained proud of throughout his life. After earning his degree, John continued his commitment to education by working at Alexander City State Junior College, where he supported students and staff with the same energy and heart he brought to every endeavor.

He began his professional journey in the pharmaceutical industry with Hoechst Roussel Pharmaceutical Company as a sales representative. From the beginning, John demonstrated a rare blend of initiative, focus, relentless drive, and style-qualities that not only set him apart but propelled him to lead with excellence and inspire those around him. He quickly became a top performer, earning every individual performance award available, including multiple Sales Representative of the Year honors. His leadership potential was quickly recognized, and he advanced to District Manager and ultimately became one of only three individuals in the company to hold the prestigious title of Senior District Manager. Over the

years, he also held significant leadership positions at Abana Pharmaceuticals (Director of Sales), Knoll Pharmaceuticals, and Sanofi.

John's career was not only defined by personal achievement but by his unwavering dedication to helping others succeed. He found tremendous joy in mentoring, guiding, and supporting those around him, always focused on their growth and success. Whether through hiring, coaching, or offering advice, John was deeply invested in seeing others reach their full potential. His influence shaped many careers, and countless individuals credit him as a key figure in their professional journeys. His legacy as a leader is rooted in his belief that success is most meaningful when shared and that lifting others up is one of the greatest contributions one can make.

Outside of his professional life, John's passions were no less impactful. He found joy in the simple pleasures-shopping for deals, using coupons, trying new restaurants, and escaping to the beach. But above all, he cherished his time with family and friends. He was especially devoted to his grandchildren, with whom he shared countless special moments. He loved hosting lively pool parties, family gatherings, and creating lasting memories with the people he loved most.

John had a unique ability to connect with others on a deep level. He made people feel seen, heard, and valued, whether in his professional or personal life. His relationships were built on sincerity and trust, and his encouragement left an indelible mark on everyone he met. His warmth, humor, and wisdom were constants that enriched the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.

John will be remembered for his heart, his humor, his dedication to helping others, and the unwavering love he had for his family and friends. His life was a gift, and his memory will continue to inspire.
