John Franklin

Mr. John M. Franklin, of Bessemer, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at the age of 75. He was a long time member of Canaan Baptist Church and was retired from Jim Walter Resources Adger #3 Mine. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served on the USS Saratoga. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary L. Franklin; a daughter, Holli Parker (Bryant); 3 granddaughters, Ellison, Leighton and Laney; aunts, cousins, and nieces. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 10 to 11 AM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Morgan Bailey officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Canaan Baptist Church Building Fund, 2543 Morgan Rd., Bessemer, AL 35022.
