John Connelly, Jr.

John Richard Connelly, Jr., passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at the age of 90.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ann Connelly; a daughter, Gwendolyn (Ron) Reaves; and a  brother, Bob (Ruth) Connelly. He is preceded in death by his brother, William Kasmire, his father, John Richard Connelly, and his mother, Ethel Connelly. He had a granddog named Jack that he loved dearly. John worked in the insurance industry for many years prior to retirement. He loved trains and could often be found tinkering with his authentic railroad lanterns. John collected flashlights of all kinds and had them all labeled with his name and phone number. He and Ann have been a member of Hunter Street Baptist Church for over 50 years. The most important thing to know about John is that he had accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and is now in heaven with the Lord.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 7, 2020, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Buddy Gray and Rev. Chris Sullivan officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Hunter Street Baptist Church.
