Jean Phillips Williamson

May 25, 1929 — January 12, 2024

Hoover, Alabama

Jean Williamson, 94, passed away on January 12, 2024, in her home in Hoover, Alabama, after a long illness. Jean is survived by her son Mark Williamson, son Paul, and granddaughter Natalie. Also surviving from her immediate family are her brother-in-law Luther Williamson and his wife, Lavon of Prattville, Alabama.

Jean is preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty-two years, Art, who passed away in 2013. Her mother, Nadine Phillips, also passed many years ago, as did her sisters, Kathryn and Martha.

Born in Tarrant City, Jean became the archetypal Post-War mother (her husband was a World War 2 Navy veteran) and saw to the raising of her two sons, Mark and Paul, through the 1950s and 1960s. Though the memories are fading, they were able to witness the old tradition of milk (and Charles Chips) being delivered to their house - what a wonderful world it was. A staunch Baptist and a member of the First Baptist Church of Hoover until her battle with dementia struck, Jean was faithful until the end.

The service for Jean Williamson will be held on at Noon, on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Currie Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Birmingham, AL, where she will be laid to rest next to her treasured husband, Art.
